2004-04-07 10:03 AM On death, vampires and plans. It was three years ago today that my grandfather passed away. He was a very good man, and I miss him. Here's to you, Grandpa. I need to remember to call my grandma today, just to chat, but she'll probably be a little blue, too. In other news, Sister Hinckley passed away yesterday evening. For more information see www.lds.org. It's funny now death can be such a happy and sad thing all at once. Lately I've been reading Robin McKinley's Sunshine. It is fabulous. I know people tend to be wary of 'vampire stories'; how many blood sucking tales can one tell anyway? Don't be afraid of Sunshine; it's a well-done, exceptional, fresh story and I'm enjoying it quite a lot. The worst thing about the book is that Sunshine doesn't live down the street to bake for me. Why do all the master cooks (bakers, chefs...) have to be fictional? Plans for the day? You bet there's plans for the day: hanging with Avadore, reading, writing, and perhaps some studying.
