2004-04-09 3:59 PM New Mantra So this is my new mantra:
Get it out, get it out, get it out. What's the point in having all this stuff cluttering up the writing files on my computer? They're not paying rent, not helping with food, not helping around the house. Time to get them out and make them pay their way. Today I submitted two poems to a couple of dark fantasy/horror mags. I'm afraid I'm a little to happy, a little too bright to be published in such a thing as a dark fantasy or horror mag, but we'll see what they say, hmmm? Little lovely darlings they are. Lovely and ready to be accepted so I can begin my career in the pulps. Some people want to be novelists and make oh so much money and be famous. I just want to write for what would be called the pulps. I love Steinbeck and Hemingway and the Bronte sisters, Salinger, Hesse and all of these oh so 'literary' figures and their books. I love Poe and Bradbury and Lovecraft. And I love Orson Scott Card and Neil Gaiman and Caitlin Kiernan, though I don't know that they'd be found in said pulps... BTW -- two to watch: Tim Pratt and M. Shayne Bell. Buy their books. Keep them in business. Now for my two-year-old and I to go and read some Billy Collins. Billy so rocks. He is so my hero. That's right, kiddies, PICNIC, LIGHTNING is on its way to be read aloud in my living room. I may even stand on a chair or a couch or the hearth... Now this is living. What can I say? My tastes are diverse. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
