i can't believe it's been a week...

...since I last posted.

Lots of things going on.

Of most notable:

Last Saturday night Avadore, Rice, Winter, Randy and Lacy and I went up in the mountains for dinner. We lit a fire and cooked steaks and chicken and corn on the cob and peppers, onions, cherry tomatoes, and pineapple. We ate strawberries. It was a great time. Randy and Lacy stayed the night and had such a great time doing that that...

... Tuesday evening we went back up in the mountains, cooked a fabulous dinner of steak (there are these steak eaters amongst us, you know), chicken, roasted red peppers, portabella mushrooms, apples stuffed with cream cheese, cinnamon, and almond extract, and then made s'mores. This time we all spent the night.

There's something about going to sleep with the stars overhead, burning through the sky. That part was cool. The cold and air mattress that refused to have air in it wasn't. Avadore got so cold he ended up in my sleeping bag.

Rice and I were up about 7. He read and I went for a hike. All by myself. I watched the sun come over the mountains and shine on the hills, a beautiful, warm golden light.

We ate breakfast, cleaned up the camp and went home.

By the way, when I say we cleaned up the camp, I mean WE CLEANED UP THE CAMP. Don't even get me started. It's just disgusting.

Hugh Nibley has said something to the effect that the state of our natural environment reflects the state of our society morally. If that's the case, and I believe it is, Idahoans are filthy people in so many ways. You should see what we pick up off the side of the road.
