eating the weekend

We spent the weekend with the in-laws, and it was a pretty good time.

My son went out of his ever-loving mind, however. He was a crazy toddler from the time we showed up until we left. After we were out their door, he was back to his usual pretty well behaved self. When we got home, he ate, and ate, and ate, and then went to bed.

While there, we had a terribly time getting him to sleep and he hardly ate anything.

Usually Avadore isn't a very picky eater. He loves his grains, fruits and vegetables. He's like me -- if it's up to us, we tend to eat like vegetarians, but that's a hard diet to adhere to in Idaho. (Particularly with my in-laws. I've spent entire weekends there where everything had some sort of meat product involved. Even the tomato soup had chicken broth :).) My in-laws are on a diet, part of which involves a lot of lean meat. So, for example, last night for dinner Avadore ate a bunch of cauliflower because he didn't want any chicken.

I spent a lot of the weekend pretty hungry as well. I've been eating every couple of hours otherwise my blood sugar has been dropping and I end up really hungry. (Pregnancy is such a strange thing :).)

In any event, when Avadore, my husband and I got home, we ate sandwiches, bananas, a few remaining Cheetos, milk... We were all really hungry. It's not that the in-laws meant to starve us, if we were hungry there were lots of apples, so we ate several apples.

I just found out that great-grandma, who ate with us and has a small appetite, went home after meals this weekend and ate ham and beans and pumpkin pie.

I'm so glad to be back in a house with some real bread. I'm so glad to be back in a house where Avadore is chilled.

I'm feeling so much better now after dinner and breakfast. I was so hungry I could have eaten the weekend :).
