2005-01-14 8:44 PM sick and amusing We are all now officially sick with The Cold. Very little has gotten accomplished. When there's time, and the menagerie allow it, there is lots of sleep. Of course, there's lots of fluids, humidifiers, menthylatum... If only I could use some NyQuil... (sigh). Since we're all sick, in a fit of need to cover ourselves, I made a bunch of food to cover us for a few days. I made what my grandmother called "Macaroni and Tomatoes". Other people call it "Goulash". I made it with rice of course, for my gluten-intolerant husband. I also made a dish that never had a name, as far as I know, that my father used to make. In my mind, it's always been the epitome of comfort food. You cook some ground sausage and put it in a baking pan. On top you put peaches and then pancake batter. You bake it until the batter's cooked. You take 1/2 cup of reserved peach juice and 1/2 cup of maple syrup, combine, heat and serve on top. It's fabulous. After dinner we watched One Crazy Summer. Rice had never seen it, Winter was fond of it when he was young, and I recall when it had a pretty constant run on either Cinemax or HBO. The dog still cracks me up. Except for this blasted disease, which just needs to go, it wasn't a bad evening. Very quiet, which is A Very Good Thing. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
