immunity the size of an amoeba

This is where some hot shot biologist points out my misspelling, misuse of term, etc... S'alright, s'alright -- just don't tell me about it. At least not today.

Yesterday, maybe the day before, Avadore developed some sort of GI something or other, and now it's mine. Wheee. Didn't I just get over something?

In other happy news, a case of whooping cough has been confirmed by our local health department.

Just another reason to stay home.

The fog is thick outside today. If you don't have to be anywhere, it's actually quite beautiful.

I'm glad I went to the Pampered Chef party last night. It turns out that it's a new joint business venture between a friend of ours and his teenage daughter. The job market sucks around here currently. His current job wasn't working out, so he needed to leave. This is one thing he's doing to help keep his family afloat. I'm glad I went to physically support them. Right now we can't afford to buy a lot from them, but I'll buy some and keep them in mind for future stuff.

Evidently they invited people from all over town, but mostly only people from the hill showed up. I sat on a couch with three young women I know (they're in their mid to late-twenties, my age), and tried to have a pleasant conversation. I don't know any of them terribly well, but I know them well enough. They just ignored me. However, I can't say I'm all that choked up about it. I visited with a younger woman (early twenties) who I like quite a lot, and her mom, and some other women I know (middle aged). I tend to get along with the "older" women (as in older than me) a lot better than I do the younger counterparts. They're certainly a lot better conversation.

When I left, the wife and mother of the new kitchen consultants sent me home with some of the yummy things they made that night. Because of Rice's gluten intolerance I don't get to eat many of these things very frequently. They know that, and were happy to help out :).

In writing news, a brand new member of one of my on-line writing groups sent her critique for "El Remedio" today. Wow! It's concise, well thought out, useful and caught a bunch of stuff no one else noticed. What a gem! I think she'll be a good addition to the group.

In any event, this is long enough. Off to accomplish ... well, something....
