i should be in bed, but there's these little gods

So I'm drinking tea and journaling.

That's right. It's 11:30 at night, I'm drinking caffeine, and the LD and Avadore will be up early in the morning. Just in case you were wondering, I am aware just how crazy I am.

Last night I finished reading Tim Pratt's Little Gods. Now, I've read his work before, and some of the stories and poems contained in the collection, but this was an entire book of his stories and poems. Honestly, does it get any better than that? I read a lot, particularly lately since I spend a lot of time nursing LD -- I feed and read, aloud and to myself. It's been ages, probably not since I was a teenager and read Bradbury's The Toynbee Convector, that I've found a collection so wonderful, so magical, so moving and fantastic.

I know I'm late acquiring this book, but I live in Idaho, so sue me. We're behind the times. If you haven't read it, I suggest finding a copy. You'll not be disappointed.

And now it's on to Nick Mamatas' Move Under Ground.

BTW, why is it that a lot of the major book sellers aren't selling a lot of the best work that's being done out there? And is a lot of the best work being published by small presses? E.g. Nightshade and Prime, etc? An interesting topic for me for lots of reasons, but that's a discussion for another time. I have to sleep at some point.
