2006-09-15 9:14 AM reading aloud The fabulous Mary Robinette Kowal has been posting an ongoing series on reading aloud.
As someone who spent a good portion of their formative years listening to books on tape, and audiobooks for the blind (and still listen to audio books), and spent a lot of time reading aloud and discussing what made a good reading (and not that I 'm an expert), and had a several year theater stint, I will say this: Trust the woman; she knows what she is doing. Some links: Lesson 1. Lesson 2. Lesson 3. Useful notes on voices. Lesson 4. Lesson 5. Lesson 6. The truth of the matter is, Mary has a really cool blog. I suggest you check it out anyway, just as a matter of course. If one follows Mary's bibliography down the page, one will come to her audio bibliography. Click on "Listen to it" under "Rampion". It's a great short story, and a great reading. Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
