So I have Netflixed Mary Poppins for the kids. I loved it when I was young and thought they'd enjoy it. We're only twelve minutes in (LD is watching it this morning whilst I wash walls) and I must admit that it has certainly stood up. And it's one of those movies with lots of bits for the adults to enjoy in addition to entertaining the children.

Absolutely a classic.

We also briefly checked out the previews before the movie. Mostly they were annoying. (Mulan II anyone?) But it included a preview for The Princess Diaries 2, which I have not yet seen. I saw the first one years and years ago, and enjoyed it so I thought I'd watch the preview and see if 2 might deserve some attention. It's advertised as being directed by the same person who directed Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride, so I knew what I was getting into, and the preview supported that expectation. Romantic comedy, romantic comedy, and then they topped it...

They have a scene with Julie Andrews, Julie Andrews people, mattress surfing. Mary Poppins, Eliza Doolittle, Maria, er, Von Trapp mattress surfing.

I was horrified, and I'm here telling you so.
