the jacket

A good day, so far.

Avadore has grown insanely over the summer, and it has become obvious to me, that though I bought his clothes a bit big last fall so they'd last as long as possible, that some of them won't be covering Avi's body satisfactorily much longer. He's not far from being the size of a seven-year-old. I nosed around online a bit this morning, found nothing to interest me, and then LD and I got in the car and went shopping.

Last year, the MIL instigated and accompanied the shopping trip for Avadore. We spent entirely too long at the store, and ended up way too stressed. This morning, LD and I walked into the store at 9:35. We walked out at 9:55. And Avadore should be clothed, at least, through next fall. We bought pants, long-sleeved shirts, and this adorable faux leather jacket. I cannot tell you how I love this jacket. It totally makes me gush. The thought of my wee little five-year-old in this totally cute jacket makes me gush. I hope he loves it. I'm sure he'll completely dig it. And the price! Totally a steal, absolutely affordable.

It's times like this that makes me remember I'm a girl, and that it's a good thing I'm the mom. I have a nose for a good deal, and I go fast.

So LD and I came home, and I started making a lovely sauce in preparation for lasagne tonight. Avadore's new favorite food is lasagne, and so I'm making a huge pan. The sauce has lots of garlic and fresh basil the in-laws thoughtfully brought to me this weekend.

The rest of the morning/early afternoon will bring some intense writing while LD rests, and then I take Avadore to Pocatello to visit the ENT to check up on his T&A (seriously... the health care professionals keep referring to my five-year-old's adenoidectomy and tonsilectomy as a T&A), and then we'll drive the hour back (agh) and have lasagne for dinner.

I'm going to try to convince myself that in actuality I'm having a way cool road trip with my kids, instead of the fact that I'm driving two hours today for a five minute doc appointment.
