in de ghetto

Today at the grocery store there was a woman talking about how this town is totally the ghetto. I had to move to another aisle so I wouldn't laugh.

We are, by no means, the big city here. We are the second largest city in Idaho, and that's not saying a lot. But we are also by no means the ghetto. I have been to the ghettos of some large cities in this country, and I'm not sure where she's been, but she's sure never seen a real ghetto. The woman with her told her if she thought this town was the ghetto, she should go to the town about 30 minutes south from here. (And no, that town isn't the ghetto--it's a smaller rural farming community. Rural does not equal ghetto.)

And, truth be told, I am so awful. Every time I crossed her I found myself singing "In the Ghetto" a la Cartman.

Yes, I went to college in the 90's.
