Well, I suppose I should explain what happened Friday, since I was so cranked up about going to campus . . .

Everything turned out really well. I got lots of sympathy from my colleagues, many of whom are facing similar issues at the moment; I got to help start a dialogue between the faculty and the administration about the configuration of computer classrooms (and realized my several years' experience as a staff member really gave me an understanding of the practical side of that discussion, which was nice); and I went to a very interesting, collegial meeting for the leadership team for the Center for Teaching Excellence, which I've volunteered to be on.

I left feeling very affirmed and a lot less battered. There's the practical matter of what to do when I see those students again, but otherwise, I'm fine.

And as for the weekend, well. This afternoon's Michigan-Michigan State game ended very badly, I thought. Not only did we have to put up with obnoxious, drunk Spartan fans parked all over everywhere all day and watching the game on generator-powered televisions, we now have to put up with obnoxious, arrogant Wolverine fans for the rest of the weekend at least . . . really going to take the fun out of reading the Sunday paper. Maybe we'll just get the Times and forget the Ann Arbor News . . .
