one block, three times

So today I tried the bicycle again. I reasoned that if three blocks was way too long, maybe one block would be okay. So Emil got out the bike for me (it's a bit of a trick getting out of the garage and past the canoe and cars, and I don't want to lose my footing) and I rode around one block. A few hours later, I rode around the block twice. And now, a few hours later still, I've just returned from riding around the block three times.

And everything is fine with my toe. I had this suspicion that yesterday's overdose would really only end up helping the cause, and it seems that's exactly what has happened. My toe seems to be taking the amount of strain I put on it yesterday with nary a twinge. I'm still not ready to take off on a ten-mile ride or anything, but that day seems closer than I'd imagined a week ago.

Back to the papers. It's a short week this week, and I have lots to do in order to be able to leave town on Thursday . . . but let me just note (especially for Peter) that Molly the kitten got rescued yesterday, so all's well that ends well. (Gosh, I hope the cat psychologist's clientele doesn't drop off because of the lousy press she got in the paper.)
