Well, it was a wonderful day. Here's the guest of honor:

Emma claimed it was dry, but it wasn't. (She just says that to yank my chain.)

Here's Emil stirring the gravy:

And here's the family (minus Emil, who's taking the picture) gathered around the table:

From left to right, that's Louise, me, David (Em's boyfriend), Emma, and Charlie.

Here we are, mid-meal:

And here, after the meal, are David, William, and Pavel getting to know each other:

(My daughter's boyfriend likes my guinea pig. What's not to like about this boy??)

I'm full and content. It was too short a visit with Charlie; he came in on Tuesday evening and has gone back to Ann Arbor tonight (and then on to Tucson tomorrow). It was a treat to have him here, and I look forward to seeing him in situ at Christmas . . . but I think it's actually going to take some time to get used to this business of having grown kids who live elsewhere, and who parachute in for short periods of time . . . I know this was in the script from the beginning, but somehow I managed to overlook that part . . .

Ah, well. Such is life, which goes on quite pleasantly, all told. It was a wonderful day. Thanksgiving never disappoints; I always look forward to it, and once again I noted with pleasure that everyone else does, too. We seem to have made a holiday, here.

I hope everyone else who celebrated today also had a wonderful celebration.
