I just read the incredibly sad news that singer/songwriter Elliott Smith took his own life either yesterday or late last night.

Elliott Smith is one of my top five favorite artists and songwriters of all time. Musically, I'd put him on the same level as any songwriter I've ever heard including Lennon/McCartney. That's no small thing considering how big of a Beatles fan I am.

I'm pretty sad about the whole thing. I'll write more on it later if I'm feeling up to it.
