Oof. Today has served up way too much mayhem for my taste - a three-badger headache, a plumbing crisis, other people losing their tempers, me straining to hold onto mine, and so on. But it has also included a bit of crocheting, some hysterically deranged scheming, measurable progress on many little fronts, and the latest issue of UU World, which includes an essay by Richard Leonard on How it feels to be 80. This passage leaped out at me:


I feel at this point, that life owes me absolutely nothing. After all, I could have been born a dragonfly and been snapped up in the first day of my life by the tongue of a frog.
