The Beautiful Young Man: something something something iPhone something something pod something swap something dog something pod something

Me: *nods vaguely*

The BYM: You've never seen Invasion of the Body Snatchers, have you.

Me: *hangs head*

The BYM: Woman, we are doomed! We can't talk to each other!

Me: *gimlet glare* You like it when I'm confused. Because you like indulging in dramatic gestures as you explain things to me, and then I look a shade less clueless when other people bring up conquest-minded pods, and that's good too.

BYM: *making grandiose appealing-to-the-heavens gesture* Like this?

Me: *sneaking under his arm* Mmm, just so.

Dog: They're not paying attention to me. That's not right. *butts snout against the tall people's legs*




Yesterday's skimmings included part of the January 2009 issue of Bookpage. Neil deGrasse Tyson's answer to "How does it feel to get hate mail from third graders?" seems worth noting.
