From Sally Singer's "Editor's Letter" in the October 2 issue of T:

The Goldmans made me think about what it takes to realize one's deepest imaginative yearnings -- in their case Renaissance drawings, French moldings and buckled bookshelves -- in everyday life. I think people often assume that creative, fanciful types live creative, fanciful lives and that serious, levelheaded types get on with the business of lifestyle in a serious, levelheaded way -- that there are artists and there are business-minded folks, that sort of thinking. For me, nothing could be further from the truth. Those whose feet are most firmly planted on the ground have the freedom to let their imaginations float with the clouds.
