Despite having onwned the Mets all season long, the Atlanta team blew their latest 5 game series against the New Yorkers, a pitiful group skippered by an already-fired-but-hanging-around-til-the-end-cause-he's-not-a-quitter manager named Art Howe. The Braves lost 3 in this oddly long series (makeup games, I suspect), and have now made the likelihood of my earlier predictions coming to pass seem remote. They looked good over the first 10 games, going 6 and 4, but the poor showing against the Mets wrecked their 60% win rate. Record since 9/3: 8-7 Games left: 15. Overall record: 86-61 So, for the Braves to wind up with the 96 win/66 loss record I predicted, the team will have to win 10 of its last 15. With 9 of those remaing games against the Marlins and the Cubs, I'll be surprised if the Braves win more than half of their remaining games. Fingers crossed, thumbs pressed, wait and see...
