2004-10-01 8:01 PM Locked Out Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Lighter on Top Read/Post Comments (4) After about a year and a half of growing my hair out, I finally decided to get it cut. A friend of mine had once mentioned to me that if I did cut it, I should consider donating the hair to the organization Locks of Love (I have a hard time not cringing when I write or say it), which is a "non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under the age of 18 suffering long-term medical hair loss." My mom, as well, said something similar to me back at the beginning of the year, so it was a done deal.
So, last night I drove over to Great Clips (see Dickie's humorous journal entry about the chain)to get the minimum 10" of hair cut off that L.o.L requires. Not really thinking, I guess, I assumed that I needed to get my hair washed, conditioned, etc., so that my otherwise distressed mop 'o locks would actually be worth the organization's time and the kid's head where it would end up. Well, duh, they won't take wet hair, so it came down to a simple, snip of the scissors just above the rubberbanded, ponytailed mass of hair I've had for at least a year now. Took months to grow, two seconds to lop off. I came away with a free haircut (I think I would've been upset if I'd had to pay for it, anyway) and hair still long enough to keep tucked behind my "Segelöhrchen." So, time to start growing it out again. At least this time I don't have to go through that awful "in-between phase" -- hair and eyes don't mix all that well. Hopefully I'll be able to write another journal entry like this one in about 18 months or so. Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
