2005-02-16 8:47 PM Swearing In Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (3) I've been wanting to post some photos of the privately-held swearing in ceremony of my cousin, Bob Atwater, to the NC State Senate in the Legislative Hall in Raleigh for quite some time now.
The ceremony took place last January, on the 26th, and I got to play "photo-journalist" for the morning. All told, I think I shot about 180 pictures over a 2.5 hour period, and it was an incredible feeling to have absolutely no inhibitions or insecurities while depressing the d60's shutter release button. Bob had asked me to take photos and explained to me prior to the ceremony's commencement that I had free range and total access to all areas within the hall. (Utter liberation -- not feeling a need to ask for permission to take someone's picture.) Perhaps more impressive, however, was the sheer number of people that came to observe Senator Atwater's swearing in. I estimate that a hundred were in attendance, so there were just about as many visitors to that room as there normally are legislators. Bob, clearly, is well-liked. Below are eleven of what I'd probably consider my best shots. ***
