2005-03-02 11:58 PM Fighting Eyelids Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (4) Well, this was a failed attempt at a journal entry. I've spent the last 15 minutes fighting against my eyelids and trying to figure out a way to describe what I've been up to for the last two days in somewhat entertaining fashion. The eyelids are getting in the way.
Basically, here are the things I wanted to go over but won't in any detail: 1. Our weekly meeting of the Wednesday Night Music Club (thank you Dickie and Sheryl) was a total success, and I expect that the two hours of constant drumming drained about the last drop of energy from me. We continue to work on the two songs I Will Survive and Midnight Train to Georgia. 2. If you're not using the Firefox browser yet, you should look into it. One of my colleagues at work led a nice little demo of Mozilla's browser and it's got Internet Explorer beat. It's well worth switching just for the Extensions, Ad-Blocker, and Themes. Fun stuff. 3. Checked out two more books from the UNC library today: Richard Matheson's I am Legend and The Hell's Angels by Hunter S. Thompson. I was a little surprised that both were even available... 4. Speaking of Matheson, I watched the film adaptation of Stir of Echoes (with Kevin Bacon) and have to admit that I didn't care for it too much. The movie was certainly creepy at times, but I liked the reasons for Matheson's ghost far more than those for the Hollywood haunt. Book's better. (As usual.) 5. I like being on interview committees, and I've learned (at least) two things from the four phone interviews we've conducted during the last two days. I would recommend to anyone applying for a job that: A. You say something during the interview. Preferrably something interesting and semi-informed. B. You, conversely, don't babble on incessantly and incoherently. C. (So this makes three.) The Boy Scout motto is just as applicable... (Oh, man, was this a painful blog...Best thing about it, in my opinion -- the title.) Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
