2005-03-15 1:09 PM One Blogging Year Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (4) Today marks my 366th day of blogging with Journalscape, and I have to say that - despite some lapses here and there (May, June, and July of last year) - I've been relatively dependable when it comes to posting.
Personally, the "accomplishment" surprises me quite a bit because I quickly grow bored of any project/task that might incorporate even the slightest degree of repetition. (If I were ever to find myself as Winston Smith in a live reenactment of Orwell's 1984, I'd surely end up -- instead of facing rabid rats -- working on an assembly line putting together generic-brand, plastic Scotch tape dispensers.) Journaling, for the most part, has proved NOT to be a tedious task at all, and once I push past some initial laziness or those relatively infrequent periods of extended stress, I generally come back to writing willingly and with fey fingers. This journal really has, in many ways, been a nice surrogate for memory, and there's definitely something to be said for having the ability to revisit a past moment captured in writing. Some of those recorded events may, upon initial review, appear to be incredibly banal, but it's still nice to be able to reflect on a real experience that, incontrovertibly, would have been forgotten. Just for that reason, one of my favorite journal entries is this one. *** Now if could just convince myself that sometimes its best to simply "put things down on paper" rather than to agonize over the material's "presentability." (Journaling can be pretty tough on one who suffers from frequent bouts of perfectionism.) Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
