2005-04-20 12:07 AM Pictures of 511 Cranwell Circle Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (10) Steffi and I never, ever wanted to buy a ranch house, but the real estate market in Blacksburg is starting to do the Chapel Hill thing (i.e., 8-10% property value increases yearly), and when a nice house in a desirable location "goes live" the interested buyer better jump on it asap.
Clearly, it's a seller's market up there, and we decided that 511 Cranwell, despite it's architectural style, is the perfect place for a childless young couple to start out in. While not large, it does have an unfinished basement for all our junk, hardwood floors (which we simply won't do without), newly renovated bathrooms, etc., etc. We'll also be able to avoid having to pay $2+/gallon at the pump frequently because we'll continue to get to work/school on foot or by bike. We're only about 1.5 miles from downtown and 2 miles from campus. So, after going up to Blacksburg soley on one Sunday to see this house and about 7 (crappy) others, it was an easy decision, and we offered the sellers their asking price the very day the house went on the market. What I can't believe is that I've spent more time deliberating what kind of television set I want to buy -- and that's for a $300-$700 purchase! Wanna buy a house for more money than you'll see in 25 years? OK, you've got 60 seconds to decide...Hopefully if/when we're looking to sell one day, we'll get to be the ones dangling the strings... All righty then, here are those pictures: * * * Read/Post Comments (10) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
