Bullet style

So much has gone on in the past week or two that I thought I'd just condense it all down into a bulleted list for the sake of brevity.
  • First, they took away my Esquart! After waiting 2-3 weeks to get my title, which I lost somewhere, the tow truck came yesterday and hauled it away. Sigh. One era, ended. So long, Esquart -- I'm sorry I didn't get to put a bullet in you and bury you in the back yard like I'd promised.

  • Drew's getting tubes -- next Friday, early in the morning. We went to the doc on Monday, and he agreed that it was time for Drew to get 'em, after 4 or 5 ear infections at the age of 10 months. He showed us the actual tubes, and they're TINY. You could stick the whole tube on the tip of a pencil. Just freaks me out that they embed it right into his little eardrums...

  • We went out on the local Parade of Homes and had time to see just a few houses, but the last house we saw really stuck with us. It's in a planned community (lots of those popping up lately!) called Bedford at Falls River, and they have these nifty houses there (like the one on that page and here, which are narrow and tall. We've kind of got the bug to learn more, so we're stopping by the office on Saturday to get more info. I'm not really ready to move just yet, but it would be cool to move into a brand-new house...The best thing about those houses is the 3rd floor, which could hold my office and a playroom/movie room. Cool!

  • Still reading Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys and enjoying the heck out of it, though it's much lighter that American Gods, his previous book. Sometimes it's so light I don't remember what I read the previous night.

  • I did read some Anansi Boys yesterday morning before writing, and that really helped me with the tone of my new story, which is also light and (hopefully) humorousI just finished a rough draft of the new story over lunch today. I'm CLOSE, now. Just have to polish like mad and send it out to some hopefully eager readers... UPDATED, 6:30 a.m., Oct. 20 -- FINISHED the draft of my story. I like it! Yahoo!

  • And did I mention the book has a dragon in it??? (SarahP I'm looking at YOU.) And goblins (hi Jim)!

  • UPDATED TO ADD: I forgot to mention this little nugget from earlier today -- when I went to drop off Drew at the babysitter (Lizzie's sister), my five-year-old cousin came up and said "Mike, you are looking handsome today." Nice!
And that's about it, for now. Just working and writing and hanging out with Lizzie and Drew, and about a million other things going on. But that's life for you. Later!
