Catch-Up Sunday

You have to wonder about someone who gets up at 5 a.m. on a Sunday, but that's me. Got up, eager to work on my baseball novel once more, and finished up the massive 37 pages of chapter seven, which soon became the much-easier-to-digest 25 and 13 pages of chapters seven and eight.

And I was able to pull some bits from those chapters and create a pretty good little story, which I'll be submitting tomorrow. Which brings me up to a total of TWO stories out to publishers. Crazy. See what novel-writing does to your submissions stats? Ah well. I'm enjoying the novel work much more than stories (though there is a nice feeling of accomplishment when I finish a story, even if it is a story pulled from a novel...).

We've had a lovely weekend here, at home for the first time, just the three of us, for the first time in what feels like a long, long time. Drew has crashed for a nap after we jogged around town, pricing new beds (ouch! sticker shock) and mattresses (ours is 14 years old) and looking for bushes and trees for our back yard. Yesterday we hung out with our neighbors who have a youngster Drew's age, hitting the playground and dunking the kids in the baby pool and sprinkler. I think we're starting to really enjoy the new house, at last.

And now I'm off to READ for pleasure -- got a story from a friend to read, some chapters from another friend, and then, if time permits, I'll try and read some more Graham Joyce. No complaints from me on this lovely, leisurely weekend -- and I know this coming week at work is gonna be NUTSO! My co-worked is on vacation, so I get to do TWO jobs while she's away... But I can handle it, and it'll be a nice challenge (I'll be picking up customer support and training issues).

And I'm moving on to Act II of All Nations -- which means a drunken Thanksgiving, a trip to Cuba, and romance with a feisty Latin lady for ol' George. Woo hoo! Later...
