2004-03-15 8:50 AM hanging on the hooks of routine i woke up and the sun is shining.
the sun shines in many ways, you ever notice that? it's not just the rays of the physical sun, but words can shine that way too. such as... kind words from a friend, laughter with a lover, kisses from your cat... all nice ways to wake up and start the day. some days it's just a little shop of wonders. i love it when that happens. **** one of the things i would really like to accomplish, in regard to writing, is to loosen up. i think i get so caught up in finding a concept, then working that concept out that i forget to have fun. i put pressure on myself to produce and when i do that everything gets so literal. i've been reading books on writing, the one i'm in the middle of right now is Writing With Power ( Techniques For Mastering The Writing Process)by Peter Elbow, and the techniques he proposes are very interesing to me and different from the way i approach writing now. i plan on taking his exercises for a test run and see how they work out. i figure if i can teach myself to quilt (which isn't easy, friends and neighbors) then i can pick up at least SOME good from reading and exercising about writing. why do i feel this burning desire to write? i write.... therefore i am. i believe i read somewhere once that having ideas (about any subject) don't do you much good if you can't articulate them. isn't that a great word? ARTICULATE. in order to communicate you have to articulate. you masturbate to articulate in order to communicate. does that mean a well-written passage is similiar to an orgasm? could be, could be. **** i told you it was a strange planet inside this head. **** i have a lot to do today, and since i took yesterday off, i plan on making up lost ground. this journal thingy has become habit to me ... and i think that's pretty damned cool. it helps to get my thoughts straightened out for the day, a little push to get motivated. it's funny how much we are creatures of habit, and how we all hang on to our little routines. so, i will hang the pieces of my day on the various hooks of routine and see what pattern develops, what picture appears. **** the sun is shining today, and that's pretty damned cool too. : ) Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
