a good ponder
what is your definition of "soulmate"?
is it always used in a romantic sense, or can it be defined by a friendship?
are there more than one soulmate per person, or is that all you get?
something to ponder. you know me, i ain't happy unless i get a good ponder now and then.
personally, (and i've said it before) i believe you have one shot at the romantical soulmate thing. i think the people you may meet and date (and possibly marry) before you get to your one, true soulmate are trial runs. we're not born knowing what love is; somehow, that is part of what we are here to learn....and maybe to teach.
anyway, that answers question number three.
i don't have a solid answer for number two, which is why i posted it. i have three friendships in my life that are very precious to me. my life would not be the same without those people in it; i would not be the same person. i love them very much and would take a bullet for any one of them. are they my soulmates? i don't know, all i know is we must have known each other in past lives, that's how rooted and a part of me they are.
definition of a soulmate?
someone who challenges you to be more than you thought you could.
someone who knows what you are about to say before you know it yourself.
someone who can make you laugh until you either pee your panties or fart out loud.
someone who sees the real you with all the warts and excess facial hair, and loves you not only in spite of it, but because of it.
someone who would go to the ends of the earth and bring back the golden apple, if that was the only thing that would make you truly happy.
a soulmate is someone in whom you can put your complete trust. you can give them your wallet, your firstborn, your heart and all three are equally as safe.
when you have found your soulmate, life does not get magically easier. all of the bumps in the road do not automatically smooth out. you don't ride off into the sunset or live happily ever after.
but life takes on a subtle glow; the bumps and hard spots become something to experience instead of something to be endured. sharing a heavy burden between two people makes it that much lighter.
that's what i think.
