bits and pieces of this and that

"In The Blue" was rejected by Antimuse.

so, i'm on the hunt for another market.

the good news is i think "The Rose" is ready to fly after a couple of great crits. i'm constantly surprised what little nits escape my attention no matter how many times i read the sucker over.

"George and Tom" is going slowly, mostly because i'm re-writing it longhand. it'll get there.

****

i have to make a concious effort not to take rejections to heart, and for the most part, i think i do alright. i can't lie; there is a tug, a pang, a stab when you open that email and it says,"No thanks," and i really wish they would tell you why.

does it suck?

does it not fit your publication?

is it too long? too short? too stupid?

was the formatting incorrect?

i guess the reason doesn't really matter if the answer is no.

friday starts the beginning of my training for the new hotel. still no guarantee that i'll get it, but at least it's a start. i'm not even sure if they have wrapped up all the legalities of actually owning the place...but, i'll just go with the flow. what else can you do, anyway?

****

Guido will have a COW when he finds out. *sniggering* HAH! that's the BEST PART...even if i don't get it.

****

it's the petty little things in life that mean so much.

the GM talked to the birthday lady, and things have smoothed out. she never wants to stay here again, and she's dropping the complaint. FINE BY ME.

****

the knight's leg is better and the surgeon said he will not operate unless he sees dead toes...that does not bode well for the future, but we will deal with that when the day comes. no use borrowing trouble.

****

now, back to finding a home for my babies.

:)
