2008-04-30 1:32 PM Lesson One and Fire, Men and Beer i read a very interesting post on a forum for internet marketers. it was interesting because it was billed as Lesson One For Newbies, but it didn't follow the common format i've seen in other "lessons." i've learned to take a lot of what i read with a grain of salt, so when i clicked on it i wasn't expecting much more than a rehash of the usual step 1, step 2, step 3 and you're a millionaire stuff.
this was written by a former teacher, and it seems to be more of a philosophical angle than a straight-up business guide. he writes that you need to be passionate about what you're doing, based on your core needs and wants, and he is convinced most people are either unaware of their gifts or have never fully explored the options those gifts afford. the first exercise is to poll your friends and family and your own heart to define what your gifts and geniuses actually are. feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments. (don't feel obligated -- but i am curious.) **** taking the first step into any new venture is always a little scary, don't you think? there's that drop in your stomach, like the one before the first little dip in the roller coaster. then, it's up in your throat and the g-forces press you back into the seat as you climb the first hill. the chains underneath the car rankle and groan, and your heart is pumping double-time. the vista widens as you are pulled up the incline, horizon opening up one step at a time. almost....there.... meep! **** that first big drop's a bitch. **** almost finished the laundry (at least i have clean undieswears, i know the Free World is breathing a sigh of relief) and ran even more errands this morning. the little Shittard needs a bath, but i'll do that tomorrow. the weather is absolutely fab, although we're still under a flood alert until friday. for now, it's up and at 'em. it's the bi-weekly BBQ at work today - i've never worked one yet, so i'm sure it will be Most Interesting. fire, men and beer. lawdy, lawdy. updates as they happen. Check out TSB for the most legal fun you can have with your clothes on. Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
