letter Thirteen to my Muffin
Hi, Muffin!
Yep, it's Sunday again, can you believe it? The week flew by, and in the meantime you're just getting bigger and bigger (and so's your mama! heh!) You're a pound and about a foot long, (like a hot dog!) and you're putting some fat on your little bones. You're getting stronger, are developing your taste buds, and you have all your little fingernails. How cool is that?
Mama told me she feels you move a lot more now, and you love it when she plays music and sings to you. You're such a good boy, Muffin. I've heard your Mama sing, and you're a good boy to let her know you like it. Uh, it might sound different when you come out, just so you know. I'm thinking all your cozy walls and fluid is protecting you from the worst of it. :)
I'm happy you like music, Muffin. It's one of the most wonderful things EVAH. We're gonna put on our Boogie Shoes and boogie all over...just you wait. Music is great for all kinds of things. When you feel sad, it makes you feel better, and when you feel better, it makes you feel FABULOUS. I can't wait to hear you sing. :)
I'll be making you some Special cd's. We're gonna git down, Muffin. Heh!
The other thing I'm looking forward to doing is reading to you. I have a whole list of books, Muffin. It's okay if you don't like some of them, but I have a feeling you're going to be crazy over a lot of them. We might start off with Little Golden Books, but then...there will be Dr. Seuss and Goodnight Moon...and so much more! oh, the adventures that await! The places we'll go! I want you to meet all the friends I had as a young girl...we'll go to the Mushroom Planet, and help solve mysteries with the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. Louisa May Alcott tells a great story about Little Men AND Little Women, and we need to visit A Light In The Forest and Johnny Tremayne. And Treasure Island! You'll love Jim Hawkins, and that's just the beginning. We'll visit Narnia, and Middle Earth, the Shadow Castle, Oz and the Territories. We have a lot of places to go!
I'm excited!
You'll meet dragons and flying monkeys, evil witches and talking lions. You'll make a lot of friends, Muffin, and friends like that never leave. They're only a page away. That's pretty awesome.
Well, Muffin, Noni's got a plate full of stuff going on, starting with an early day tomorrow. Keep boppin' and rockin', be good to Mama (it'll pay off in the long run -- don't forget the Cookie Embargo!) and know that I'm holding you close in my heart.
The subject of tonight's lecture is rhythm. The beat. The driving force that holds our lives together.
