2008-05-07 7:34 AM before i go back to bed thoughts... ....gas prices are killing me. it's $3.89 on this side of the river -- twenty cents cheaper over the bridge. it's almost worth the drive, but with the construction it's not worth the aggravation.
....there is legislation pending that would make possession of marijuana under three and a half ounces (for personal use) legal. a gentleman on TV who fights meth labs says that would be a Terrible Thing, as it's sending a message to kids that it's okay to walk around intoxicated and zoned. like, legal alcohol or cigarettes don't do this already?? just sayin'. ....someone dumped a baby boy, minutes old, in a dumpster with the lawn clippings. he was wet, cold, and alone. they rushed him to the hospital and he's doing fine and in safe custody. they're still looking for the mother. ....it looks like, barring a miracle of mathematics regarding michigan and (florida??) another state, there is no way Hilary is going to win the nomination. but see, here's the thing...WHAT DOES IT MATTER? i can't believe more people don't bitch about this, it's been a burr in my panties since i took a class trip to Albany (the state capital of New York) in 1972 and participated in a Student Government convention. (i was actually chosen to present my bill on recycling. it was a good bill, and it passed.) YOUR VOTE DOES NOT COUNT. MY VOTE DOES NOT COUNT. HIS VOTE DOES NOT COUNT. YO MOMMA'S VOTE DOES NOT COUNT. unless you're part of the Electoral College, your vote for president means NOTHING. Gore won the popular vote (that would be you and me, cowboy) and lost the electoral vote to the Bushman. do i have to draw a picture? does this not piss you off? it pisses me off, and it pisses me off every single time i see a news clip or stumble across an article. what a waste of money and time, people. millions of dollars spent in campaigning -- for what? the torture of the political commercials, the pablum being served up in debates, what does it mean? NOTHING. you don't decide. someone else, someone you don't know, will never meet, have never spoken with, decides for you. does this not piss you off? and if it doesn't, why doesn't it? so, it's difficult for me to get worked up over the issues of the candidates, to actually give a rat's ass what Obama's religion is, or if Hilary wears the pants in the family. oh, i have opinions, but what's the use in working myself up into a snit? it'd be different if someone heard, if change was possible, if it made a difference. but it doesn't, so i generally stay away from politics except for the occasional sleep-deprived, half-crazed, mid-life rant. /rant. ....i have a tiny sliver of glass in my foot that really hurts and i can't get it out. ....i can't believe Mario and his partner were sent home last night on DWTS. that shocked me -- i thought he was pretty good. i'm still pulling for my girl, Kristi Y. yes, i'm a big fan of hers and have been for over twenty years -- i have never seen such a graceful ice skater, and she's translated that to the dance floor. i didn't know that she had been born with clubfoot. i find that amazing. watching her train and rehearse for this show, i am inspired by her work ethic and focus. i wish i had a tenth of that. ....discussions are underway for a phone upgrade. i want a pink one. heh. ....NOW i'm going to add to the four hours of sleep i've gotten and hope that carries me through my shift tonight. i'll probably dream of sheets. oh, and towels. *sigh* Check out TSB for the most legal fun you can have with your clothes on.
