next....

sweating like a piglet, i was. i'm such a dork.

the editor is a sweetheart, and i'm positive i have socks (and probably undieswears, too) older than he is. he made me feel more comfortable right from the beginning, asking me questions about where i'm from, and remarking on my Upstate Accent (which i thought i had kicked -- heh, lala!) he asked about the years of the memories, and told me not to be nervous, if i flubbed a line just go to the beginning of the sentence and start over. they can edit -- and i was to leave off reading the lyrics interwoven into the piece, as they will play the lyrics i included when they broadcast. how effin' cool is that??

i did practice a little, but not a lot. i printed them off this morning and read them aloud a few times, in between blowing my nose and running to the bathroom. (damned bowels! for realz. *sigh*) like you needed to know that, right?

anyway, he wanted me to do The Goddess first, since that's the one he has a spot for right away. so, i sat on the couch in my jammies, paper clutched tight in my sweaty little hands and my stomach jumping on a trampoline. i looked through the window at that kitchen table so many years ago, and the two girls sitting there. i could almost smell the memory, taste it. i thought about telling the story to my son and my daughters and my muffin.

3....2....1....

first take. it's a wrap. :)

perfect. wonderful. i'm a natural, says he.

the second one (B6) was harder for me because it is so intensely personal. i had to read one paragraph over because the phone dropped, but that's cool (i'm not sure it was a phone drop, but that was sweet of him.)

other than that, one take and it's a wrap.

he's a big fan, and said i did so well he wants me to read them all for him. (not today.) which is pretty neato.

he said he'd shoot me an email (okay, random thought fragment -- if you shoot an email, can you take it to the taxidermist and have it stuffed for display?) and let me know when it's to be broadcast, but their ETA is either a week from today, or two weeks. i can't wait to hear the others, and see what they choose in addition to mine. i think i sound like Minnie Mouse on helium, and i don't know if i can listen to it. heh.

so, that went well.

yay!

big thanks to JM, for helping me navigate the Mysteries of FTP. he was very patient, and i know sometimes it's hard to be patient with me. something finally clicked last night, and i've been playing with templates to find the right fit. i think i have; check out WordWebbing to see what i've been up to, and let me know (either there or here) what you think. i'll be trying to tweak it, and add a few widgets and plug-ins, so that will be the next learning curve to beat.

progress!

****

a full and busy day, but i feel clearer than i have in a while. my To-Do list multiplies when i'm not looking, but i'm getting better at prioritizing and breaking it down into smaller, more manageable chunks.

NEXT.
