giggling on the inside

first off, the van window i shattered while mowing the lawn? covered by Gem's homeowner's insurance, right?

well, yeah. except for the $500 deductible.

the car window came to $489.

so, now i owe Gem $500.

****

of note: Gem has had her life insurance, car insurance, and home insurance with the same company since she was sixteen. that's almost forty years. but the kicker?

she has never filed a claim. never.

even so, she has a $500 deductible, and not only that, she will be penalized her 10% discount because now, you see, she's had an "accident".

fun times.

took care of some Important Business today. will be taking care of some more tomorrow.

my back is so not happy right now.

on my way home from work, the knight caught sight of me and honked, and we met up in the parking lot of a local grocery store. much to my surprise, there was a mobile unit in the parking lot. a MAMMOGRAM mobile unit.

see that? he says. i talked to the girl in there. she's very nice. she said to go on in, talk to them, and they can do a free mammogram right now. if they can't do it here, they'll pay for it if you go to the hospital.

right now??

yes, baby, right now. go on. she's very nice. i gotta roll. call ya later.

off he went. but he waited until i got out of the car and made like i was going over there.

well, okay, i knew i wouldn't lie about it, so i went in. he was right. the girl was very nice, she knew who i was (he must have told her the chubby redhead, heh) although it was exactly what i expected. they wouldn't mammo me there; i have a personal history, a family history, and dense boobages. this i already knew. i'd have to go to the Big H.

but, what i didn't know, is not only is the mammosmashing paid for, but so is any subsequent testing (and treatment, i think, from what she was saying!) such as sonograms (which i always have to have because of the density thing) are also paid for.

i know they are connected to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, but i'm not sure if it's a local chapter or what. it's a big city, and they're connected to one of the largest (and best) hospitals in the country.

i might mosey up there.

the police came in this morning with a picture of a man wanted in several brutal homicides. presumed armed and dangerous. it was a little scary. so i was glad to see the same picture in the news as seized. i think i would have wet my pants if someone like that walked into the hotel.

srsly.

****

The Long, Hot Summer was a movie released the year i was born, based on "The Hamlet, a novel by William Faulkner. i had never seen it before -- it's one of Gem's favorites. lemme tell you -- Paul Newman was H.A.W.T.

good movie. if it's on, catch it. great southern flava -- like fried chicken and mashed taters.

****

way past my bedtime, so i'm rockin'.
