sometimes, i really love my job. sometimes, i think i can do this for a long time. sometimes, that really scares me.

heh.

the thing about working in a hotel is, because of the nature of the business, the staff often bonds like family. Miss S. has brought in two key players in the staff she had at her other place -- and watching them, you can tell they've been together for years and have weathered quite a few crisis...es. (whatever.) i do like that aspect of working at a small hotel.

****

what i liked so much about today was People. two, in particular.

one is a gentleman that comes in every week, and prefers a feather pillow. he's very kind, never fractious, and always appreciative. he's a breath of fresh air, and always asks after my loved ones, and tells me he'll say a prayer for them.

the second one was a last-minute walk-in. short, very very dark, in a bright pink shirt and plaid shorts. sunglasses, and bling. he came in just as i was closing my shift and trying to get out of there.

he was very pleasant, and when i asked what brought him to town, he smiled big and said he was going to propose to his girlfriend tonight. he told me right now she's pissed off at him, because the other night they were talking about marriage and he told her he wasn't ready. so, she thought their night out tonight was his way of kissing up, and had no idea he was about to Pop The Question.

well, of course i squealed and oooed and congratulated, and i asked him if he had the ring with him and could i see it. he pulled it out -- omg, it was gorgeous. big bucks, there, and i told him he had great taste, and that i was really excited for him. (which i was.) he was so happy, how can you not respond to that?

he brought her in before i left, and i noticed they had matching shirts. (heh!) they were holding hands, and she had a look on her face, like, that's right, uh-huh, you better be kissing mah azz, sonny boy.

oh, i was so laughing inside.

i only wish i was working first shift tomorrow, so i could see them when they leave. i bet they'll be soooo cute.

the upper back is better, the lower back is grumbling. i'm used to the lower back complaining; that i can deal with. the sharp, stabbing pain has abated a bit, and i'm looking forward to getting some quality sleep tonight. more Important Stuffage to do tomorrow, a positive vibe is thrumming and i hope the note holds long enough for Certain Things To Come To Pass.

yes, i know it's cryptic, but get over yourself. i don't have to tell you everything, and who was it that said, "Serve no wine before its time." ???

grapes are still green.
