what day is it?

honestly, all day long i thought it was friday. sure does fuck ya up when you can't figure out what day it is.

coordinated schedules with the knight, then on to coordinating schedules with Gem, then next was coordinating the schedule at work. i said i'd take a first shift at the sister hotel on monday, but the manager there called me at work tonight. she wanted me to work a second shift saturday, as well. why? because she gave two of her staff the day off as requested, and has no one to cover the shift.

too bad. so sad. that would be no, for me. i have plans on saturday (i honestly do. besides the fact you just screwed your own schedule, and *i'm* supposed to pick that up? how about you call one of the people you mistakenly let go, or have someone pull a double, or HEAVEN FORBID, take the shift yourself??? what a dumbass.)

are you sure?

(WTFUCK? am i sure? AM I SURE?)

yes ma'am, i'm very sure.

she was silent on the phone for about three minutes. i waited.

oh. okay then. i'll see you monday. do you want to come in early to walk the hotel?

sure. i'll be there at 6:30 AM.

oh, no. it's 3-11. i need you 3-11.

right here i know she's fucking me. she told Miss S. she needed coverage because her monday/tuesday DAY SHIFT person got fired. so that means the 3-11 person wanted those day shifts, and now she has no one to cover 3-11 (like i can't figure *that* out. puhleeze.) and the next day i have to be at my hotel 7-3.

OYE.

what a clusterfuck. really. i said i'd take the shift, but i will never take another one over there. not unless it's really, really awesome. like, drooling awesome. with more money. which will never happen.

of course, over there, i don't have to do laundry.

hmmm.

i think there was drama in the air today. the Lead snapped on one of the housekeepers (driving her to tears) and on A, the first shift anchor. A told her, "Don't speak to me like that!" and Miss S. caught the Lead before she bolted and found out the "reason" the Lead was hateful to Miss C. and A -- it wasn't even Miss C. -- the Lead said one of the other girls left, didn't clean her check-outs, and only did the stay-overs. she didn't tell anyone she was leaving. so, the Lead was bitchy to Miss C.

yeah, i don't get it either.

a guest came in and tried to scam me today. oh, yes he tried. it was a CLASSIC case of I'm Getting Something For Nothing From This Place.

the evidence:

1. he said he made a reservation for a one-room suite. (he did not. he made a reservation for a room with two double beds. there's no way to fake that on the computer, at least, that i know of.)

2. he said it was very important for him to have this one-room suite (which is a higher rate) because it's his anniversary weekend, and he brought his kids with him. (actually, not that it matters, i believe he is REALLY here for one of the mega-family reunions taking place this holiday weekend. this weekend is HUGE for family reunions. and why would you bring your children to an anniversary weekend? or am i missing something here?)

3. he said he's been calling the hotel and verifying his room type since he made the reservation, calling as many as four times a week, on both day and night shift. (if he has, he's missed me every single time and i've been here three months, working both shifts. there was no note on his reservation of any call. there were no changes made to his reservation, which was booked through central.)

4. he is not a Reward Member. (at least, he wasn't until after he called corporate and yelled about not getting his room type.)

i explained to him that room type is a preference (stop me if you've heard this before) and not a guarantee. i further explained this is a long-term facility, and that most of our guest have been here weeks, even months. i said, the majority are from the nearby base, getting ready to deploy overseas. their orders change. i can't kick one of them out for three days, you see?

no, no he didn't see.

i can't give you what i don't have. (and what you didn't reserve.) i'm sorry. (call the WAH-mbulance.)

THAT'S when he called corporate and became a Rewards Member.

****

and that was just one of several incidents tonight. it was a madhouse.

****

oh my god, is it friday yet?? it's been thursday for a week.
