outtamyhead
sometimes it all comes outtamyhead, and sometimes i'm just outtamyhead. period.

i guess i started this journal thingy out of boredom at a job i used to have. i stay here because i've come to know and love some of the people i've "met". you know who you are!!!

mornin'

so sad to hear of the passing of the croc hunter. i just loved that guy, crazy as he was. yeah, i didn't think he should've had his baby so close to the crocs, but i still enjoyed him.

my darling little daughter is having a pool party today. she has about 6 friends coming. should be a hoot. should be cool too. i tried to get her to postpone and have a different sort of party later but you know kids. i won't be swimming, i can telly ya that much.

there's a boy from her grade school coming, cameron. this kid is the bomb!!! his twin brother is coming too, but these two couldn't be more different. cameron is funny, outgoing, expressive. cody is quiet, moody, almost dark.

in 4th grade little cameron professed his love for katherine (we later found out he'd been in love with her since 1st grade) on the playground. she responded that she already had a boyfriend - josh. and cameron said "oh i curse this dark recess. josh is a nincompoop. he fails every test!!!"

now while josh may be an adorable boy - really a beautiful kid - i gotta root for cameron. he even looks funny. his parents own a home in one of the finest neighborhoods in town, yet he and his brother always manage to look rumpled, as if they've just slipped out of bed and into their salvation army hand-me-downs. hair is always too long, never combed. no matter what clothes they are wearing, they always look disheveled. but personality - over the top!

i have to say, yes, she's only 11 and much too young to have a boyfriend, which we have talked about. however, if she's gotta have a "crash" as she so sweetly used to call it, i'd much prefer her have a crash on a boy for his personality rather than his looks. so i'm not really rooting for anyone, just hopeful for her future i guess.

i can't wait. should be a very interesting afternoon. i can't wait to have a conversation with this kid.

my mom told me something back in high school that i didn't pay any attention to then, but i still remember. she said "one day all of these geeky little boys will grow up and get their man-faces and you'll be sorry you turned them down". and she was right, much as i hate to admit it. i always was a sucker for a pretty face and learned my lesson many times over, heartbroken and sad. it finally sunk in some years ago. i have tried to impress this fact on my daughter.

i'll report back on any interesting conversations.
