Pawns as bits- Maf'J Alvarez

I'm writing with a somewhat strange idea I had whilst falling asleep - or waking up yesterday.

I imagined in some kind of abstract sense that each of your chess players could have their functionality determined in bit data fashion (this was a rather hazy state and so this is equally vague) so that pawns are very basic 1 bit pieces (or 2 bit - but basic) as they can only move one step forward. But then don't all computers use basic binary to process data and produce fantastic displays and complex results based on this principle? Maybe the pawns would have to organise in some kind of complex fashion to enable a much more sophisticated combined functioning - maybe more pieces? So the other pieces would each have their own data specific characteristics and this could be played out somehow - - - it's all seeming more like a dream now than anything possible but believe me at the time it seemed pretty tangible.

OK enough - time for bed - Maf'J
