Well, the ARC's have appeared. ARC's are Advance Reading Copies, and are soft-cover versions of what the final book will be. They go to reviewers, bookstores, anywhere it's useful to have the book read before it comes out. Sometimes they have the actual cover, sometimes not. These do, except the back, I hear, may not be quite the final version and the front, the back and the spine all say Advance Reading Copy, Not For Sale. (Which never stops collectors.) They've appeared, and it gives me a little thrill to hold one, because it almost IS the book. But they're not going out yet. Bantam has a plan for this, as they seem to for everything, and they'll send them out when their plan calls for. So this is another classic Moment When Something Happens And Then You Start Waiting Again, the moments this phase of publishing a book is made up of, for the author.
