Reviews for real

Okay, the Baltimore Sun is in and it's good (YAY!), as is January Magazine. Andi, thanks for the heads-up re: Seattle. If anything else happened I won't know until tomorrow or Tues., when Bantam's clipping service or whatever crystal ball they use comes through.

What's weird about this review thing is, it's not like bingo, where there are a limited number of squares and as long as you keep playing you'll eventually fill them all in. First, the number of potential places for reviews are unlimited. (For CHINA TRADE I got a good review, six months after the book was published, in an antique dealers' magazine.) Second, you may or may not get any particular column, so no matter how long you wait for the Philadelphia Enquirer, say, it might never come. So you keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, not knowing how many feet the review-monster actually has.

But so far I'm real happy.
