10 minute blog

And boy will it be obvious. High quality, this one.
But I will go to bed by 11. I will, I will!

We are going to Sesame Place. Don't tell C though. It's a three-hour drive. We're using the euphemistic "going on a trip," and that's satisfying her just fine.

Today is C's half birthday. (Which means yesterday was Judy's son's 1/2 birthday! Yay, LB!) We taught her to say "two and a half," and celebrated at Chili's with a molten lava cake. One cake, three spoons. Gertie participated indirectly, jumping wildly as the sugar and chocolate hit.

My brother the US Marine-turned-hippy-boy is graduating from college tomorrow. Tonight was the surprise party in his honor, and it was indeed a surprise. Cool. Congratulations bro! Wish I could be there. Feel free to leave any advice or platitudes for him in my comments.

And finally, from the "I Walked Right Into It" files: A guy I knew from seminary has accepted a call in this presbytery, and will be installed at the end of September. Three days ago he sent an e-mail: "Would you be a part of my installation commission?" (This is a group of five people who come from all over the presbytery and who 'preside' at the installation service.) I said of course, I'd be honored to be a part of it, I've got it on my calendar.

The next day: "Would you be willing to preach?"

Man oh man, the guy is slick.

As it happens, I have a sermon I worked on while in seminary that I think will be perfect. And as I made clear over at cheesehead's place just tonight (see above for the link), I'm all about recycling, when it's a word that the people need to hear. (Confidential to ChicagoRev: it's the Moses/"commencement" sermon I did for CC's class.)

And it is 11:04, and I'm turning into a pumpkin.
