w.i.w.h.m. part 6

In great hope that this will be the final part, although I have nothing on which to base that hope…

What I would have missed yesterday and today:

• I feel virtuous because I did triple-recycling duty yesterday—dropped off some plastic bags that were springing out of our over-full pantry whenever we opened the door; took some large pieces of cardboard to the county collection center (they don’t pick up cardboard curbside); and took miscellaneous computer parts to be recycled and disposed of properly. (Did you know that you shouldn’t just throw away old computer components? It’s true!)

• A dinner date with R last night in Old Town—duck breast in pineapple/pecan sauce, basmati rice and cilantro coleslaw, followed by a brown-sugar pie which is basically pecan pie without the pesky nuts getting in the way.

• The opportunity to make a gingerbread house with C this morning. We used a kit, of course, and it turned out pretty well. The icing kept hardening as we would do the different steps though, so I kept having to add teaspoons of water. By the time we got to creating windows and doors the stuff was pretty runny, so the result has a definite Salvador-Dali-does-Hansel-and-Gretel motif.

• Also, I’m pretty psyched about the Dover ruling.

See ya!
