friday five--boo-boos

A Songbird original:

1) Are you a baby about small injuries?
Yes, sometimes, although I'm pretty stoic about them. I think my pain tolerance must be pretty high (two unmedicated labors?). I do feel sorry for myself sometimes though, and R gets to hear me whine.

The injuries often don't bother me as much as the treatment. When the incident in #2 happened I had to have novocaine injections, with the doctor moving the needle around every which way (sorry KatieG) and that smarts but good.

2) What's the silliest way you have ever hurt yourself?
I was about 11 or 12 one New Year's Eve. My younger sister and I were watching MTV and they were having some kind of contest that involved calling in at a certain time. When the time came I ran for the phone, and as I rounded the couch I rammed my foot into the wall. It hurt like hell until I looked down and saw my pinky toe sticking out at a 45 degree angle and then it *really* started to hurt.

We did end up going to the emergency room, although by the time they saw us it was starting to move back into place.

3) Who took care of your boo-boos when you were a child?
Mainly Mamala but also Dad. I remember when the incident in #5 happened my mother took me to JC Penney (maybe we were going there anyway) and bought me some white chocolate stars from the candy counter.

4) Are you a good nurse when others have boo-boos?
Eh. To be honest, I'm just OK. I'm definitely good with the initial response and am a big believer in the healing power of mommy hugs and kisses, but once that's done I've often moved on.

5) What's the worst accidental injury you've suffered? Did it require a trip to the Emergency Room?
When I was five or six I tripped on an untied shoelace and face-planted on a set of brick stairs, cutting open the bridge of my nose and requiring stitches.

You may notice that I never injure myself doing anything cool or daring. Oh well.
