Just finished Roman Blood by Steven Saylor and The Grass Crown by Colleen McCullough and Trading in Danger by Elizabeth Moon. After reading The Speed of Dark, anything she writes is on my list. I have the same rule for Connie Willis (Doomsday Book). And, no, they're not "women writers" (in that dismissive tone of voice I've heard so often). They are authors, and excellent by anyone's criteria (many criteria--plot, character development, historical accuracy, scientific detail, etc.).

I guess Fortune's Favorites is next. Gaius Marius has died and Lucius Cornelius Sulla is on his way to becoming dictator, after forcing young Gaius Julius Caesar to become a priest who can't touch metal and can't eat grain (thus keeping him out of military service.)

Also, I watched the initial episode of "Medium" -- it was excellent. Which probably means it will be cancelled after a few shows.
