A Gift

This morning was truly a gift from the Universe, a step out of Time for enjoyment and renewal.

It was clear, sunny and cool (chilly, even) with the air washed clean by the recent light rain. The moisture in the air carried the piney scent of the bushes I was trimming, a pleasurable redolence.

The cats, too, seemed to realize we had stolen a few moments from eternity. They came outside with me and lounged on the brickwork, watching me potter about in the garden and clip a bit of the hedge. They knew that we'd be back to our usual chores later in the day, but for a few crystalline hours, the time was ours to enjoy.

These are the kinds of memories time cannot dull nor custom stale, nor are they withered by adversity. A gift.
