Spam E-Mail

Windows Live Mail (daughter of Hotmail) has a new feature called "Report and Delete" for spam e-mail. This is a Beta version, so all functionalities are not available yet; however, in the week or so that I have used it, I have seen a dramatic drop in my spam e-mail.

What they do is collect data on senders and domains reported as spammers from all their users. From that database, they are building a process that blocks spam. Today I had to delete only 6 spam e-mails! Can you believe it?

I'm sure that spammers will continue to create workarounds, but a big central database will certainly cut down on the number of emails. I still check my Junk box, just to mark any friendly emails that may have been shunted aside by mistake. Eventually I expect to have a reasonably good system in place.

Hallelujah!
