I am so grateful for the peace and solitude of this morning.

I am full of appreciation for my companion animals, who accompany me everwhere, just for the pleasure of our being together.

I rejoice in the cool of the morning and the streaks of pink across the sky, heralding the new day.

I am more thankful than I can express for the friendships I have shared over the years and which continue today.

I am grateful to my mother, whose influence ranged from the sublime to the mundane, from how think for myself to the tricks on how to fall asleep.

I bless my Italian stepfather, who spread laughter and common sense like pixie dust, everywhere.

I am thankful to be clean and sober, to have a good job, to enjoy good health, to know how to set boundaries and respect myself.

And finally, I think most important, I am given opportunities to share with others, to make a difference for the better in this world, to have a voice in the future.
