Over 1,000 homes destroyed in San Diego County, which is just north of the Mexican border. I don't know how many more in Orange county (between San Diego and Los Angeles) and many more in Los Angeles County. And the toll keeps mounting.

A quarter of a million people forced to abandon their homes and go to ground in shelters, evacuated from the threat of ravening beasts, a series of fires, some caused by arson. Most of the people in the fire ravaged areas are not poor people of color, so I expect that federal help will be expedited and allocated appropriately.

But still, it's horrible.
