An Ode to Friday, What I Owed to Friday

Friday's agenda looked like this:

Up at dawn, morning ablutions.

Made pot of coffee.

Walked the dog, made and ate breakfast.

Checked email.

Laundry.

Cleaned refrigerator.

Read a bit.

Cleaned cabinet over refrigerator.

Read some more.

Made/ate lunch.

Checked email again.

Cleaned grout between tiles in kitchen.

Read some more.

Cleaned stove.

Finished book.

Froze leftovers for some day when I'm too tired to cook.

Folded laundry, put it away.

Made dinner, ate dinner, enjoyed somnolent evening watching two episodes of "Quantum Leap."

And here I am, writing inane sentences after a day of cleaning and reading. It feels really good to have the kitchen nearly clean. And it was pleasant being able to do it at my own pace, without the frantic feeling of the deadline ("I have to go to work Monday so I've got to finish this NOW.")

Tomorrow I'll finish the kitchen and bake more bread. And of course enjoy another pot of coffee. We Swedes run on strong black coffee. We readers like to sip coffee while enjoying the next couple of chapters. And we cleaners like to use a coffee break as an opportunity to rest a bit.

Coffee is great.
