Better (though not wetter) Weather

Temperatures have dropped 25 to 30 degrees in three days. It is actually cold this morning--we shiver in California when the thermometer registers less than 55 degrees. Yeah, I know, we're sissies.

I got out of my nice warm bed, raced through my morning ablutions, put on cold jeans and sweatshirt, and got back under the covers until I warmed up again.

It's wonderful. I much prefer being cold to being hot. A bout of shivering is worth it, and I've plenty of warm sweaters and a heavy wool jacket if I need them. The only negative aspect to today's weather is the cold dry wind, which is whipping up leaves and bending palm trees before it.

One sure sign of the weather reversal is that Jasmine isn't panting any more. She sleeps at the foot of my bed and she was sleeping so quietly in the cool air that I checked her to see if she was still breathing. Then I could hear the faint puppy snores telling me that she is still amongst the living.

The cats have become very cuddly. They've learned that my laptop puts out a lot of heat while it's running and when the Windows chime sounds at bootup, they come running into the room and then saunter oh-so-casually onto the shelf next to me or onto the cedar chest to my right. One of the few times they're silent is when they are stalking the wild computer.

This is my kind of weather.
